HOW DO STRETCH MARKS AND SCARS FORM

Stretch marks and scars form as a result of changes in the skin’s elasticity and collagen production. Stretch marks, also known as striae, occur when the skin is stretched rapidly, such as during pregnancy, weight gain, or muscle building. The skin is stretched beyond its normal capacity, causing small tears in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin. As the skin heals, these tears become visible as stretch marks.

Scars form as a result of injury or damage to the skin, such as from cuts, burns, or surgery. The body produces collagen to repair the damaged tissue, but the collagen fibers may not be arranged in the same way as the surrounding healthy tissue, resulting in a raised or discolored scar.

It is important to note that everyone’s skin is different, and some people are more prone to developing scars and stretch marks than others. Factors such as genetics, hormone levels, and overall skin health can also play a role in their formation.

Benefits Of Stretchmark Scar Reduction

Addressing Stretchmark Scars Might Be More Beneficial Than You Realize

Improved appearance: Stretch marks and scars can be unsightly and can make people feel self-conscious about their appearance. Stretchmark scar reduction can help reduce the appearance of these marks, resulting in smoother, more evenly toned skin.

Increased confidence: Removing or reducing the appearance of stretch marks and scars can boost self-esteem and confidence.

Greater flexibility in clothing choices: Stretch marks and scars can limit clothing choices, particularly when it comes to swimwear or form-fitting clothing. Stretchmark scar reduction can help remove the marks and give people more freedom to wear what they want.

Improved skin texture and tone: Stretchmark scar reduction can improve the overall texture and tone of the skin, making it look healthier and more youthful.

Non-invasive and painless: Advancements in technology have made Stretchmark Scar reduction non-invasive and painless, with minimal downtime.

Laser Stretch Mark Reduction

The 1540 non-ablative fractional laser device is used at our clinic for treatment of stretch marks. It was the first and only laser to receive clearance for the treatment of striae (stretch marks) from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This makes us Denver’s leading stretch mark removal treatment center.

This is the same laser that is used to improve lines and wrinkles and for scar removal will also improve the look of your stretch marks. Since stretched skin has lost its elasticity, our goal at Denver Laser Solutions is to help you regain it!

How Does it Work?

The purpose of our 1540 fractional non-ablative skin resurfacing laser is to help promote the production of elastin. Heated micro-columns cause a wound in the skin which creates a natural healing response promoting the production of collagen and elastin. This tightens and ultimately shrinks the appearance of the stretch marks so they fade more naturally into the skin.

Our price per treatment includes areas such as the tummy, hips, inner thighs, outer thighs, buttocks, shoulders, and breasts.

Stretch Mark Reduction Results

There is no way of completely eliminating stretch marks, only to soften and fade them from view by improving the texture and tone with a series of fractional laser resurfacing treatments.

Before and after results shown here are Denver Laser Solutions clients one month after their third laser stretch mark reduction session.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stretchmark Scar Reduction in Denver

  • How to prepare for laser stretch mark reduction

    • A topical stretch mark reduction cream consisting of lightening ingredients and retin-a is required for all clients to be applied once a day for two weeks prior to the first treatment.
    • We recommend wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothes to your appointment to avoid irritation to the area after laser treatment.
    • Avoid unprotected sun exposure, treatment can not be performed on sunburned skin.
  • What to expect after laser stretch mark treatment

    1 – 7 days post:

    • Skin will be tender to the touch, red, and swollen.
    • Skin will get dry and feel itchy

    7 – 10 days post:

    • An exaggerated “tan” will appear and persist throughout the treatment course and for up to 6 months.
  • How to care for your skin after laser stretch mark treatment

    • Up to an hour post treatment apply cold packs to the area on and off to reduce heat and swelling.
    • Avoid sun exposure and excess heat in the area.
    • 2 – 7 days post apply topical ointment such as neo or polysporin one to two times a day..
    • Post one week, resume daily application of SMR cream.
  • Is Laser Hair Removal Safe for Black Skin?

Darker skin tones, just like in the sun, will attract and absorb the light and heat from the laser more readily, exposing them to a higher risk for laser burn or prolonged irritation post treatment.

However, with the proper laser and energy setting dark and black skin tones can successfully get laser hair removal.

  • What Are The Risks of Laser Hair Removal?

    • There is a risk of scarring and burning.
    • Short term effects may include: reddening, mild burning, temporary bruising or blistering. Hyper-pigmentation (browning) and hypopigmentation (lightening) have also been noted after treatment.
    • These conditions usually resolve within 3-6 months, but permanent color change is a rare risk. Avoiding sun exposure before and after the treatment reduces the risk of color change.
    • Allergic Reactions: in rare cases, a delayed persistent urticarial rash notable for pale red, raised, itchy bumps may occur; an oral steroid may be prescribed to mitigate this effect.
    • Exposure of our eyes to laser light could harm your vision. You must keep the eye protection goggles on at all times during treatment.
    • Compliance with the aftercare guidelines is crucial for healing, prevention of scarring, and hyper-pigmentation.
  • Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

Most people liken the sensation to a warm rubber band snap. Although uncomfortable, it is tolerable.

The good news is that extra comfort is provided through a simmer machine that forcefully blows cold air simultaneously at the treatment area.

It’s also not a bad idea to take 400mg of Ibuprofen 45 minutes prior.

  • How Many Treatment Will I Need?

LASER can only effectively treat hair in the active growth stage, when the hair is still attached to the follicle.

Only about 10 to 20 percent of the hair on your body is in the active growth stage at any given time so most people need around six to nine treatments, spaced four to eight weeks apart, depending on the area being treated.

  • Is Your Treatment Different From at Home Laser Hair Removal Options?

Our IPL and LASER technology is much more powerful and effective than at home options.

Most at home devices can temporarily reduce the hair but it does not permanently get rid of it.

  • Can You Remove Stretchmark Scars

It is difficult to completely remove stretch mark scars, as they are caused by damage to the deeper layers of the skin. However, there are several treatments that can help reduce their appearance and make them less noticeable.

Some of the most common stretch mark scar reduction treatments include:

Topical creams and lotions: These can help to moisturize the skin and promote collagen growth, which can help to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Laser therapy: This can help to stimulate collagen production and improve the texture and tone of the skin.

Dermal fillers: These can be used to plump up the skin and smooth out the appearance of stretch marks.

Micro-needling: This treatment involves creating small punctures in the skin to stimulate collagen production, which can help to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Chemical peels: These can be used to remove the top layers of the skin and improve the texture and tone of the skin.

  • Does Scar Revision Work on Stretchmarks

Scar revision treatment can be used to improve the appearance of stretch marks, but it may not completely remove them.

Scar revision treatments such as laser therapy, dermal fillers, and microneedling can help to stimulate collagen production and improve the texture and tone of the skin, which can help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. These treatments can also improve the coloration and smoothness of the skin. But it’s not possible to completely remove them.

It is important to note that everyone’s skin is different and some people may have more success with certain treatments than others. It is recommended to consult with a professional to know more about the best option for you and to understand the realistic results of the treatment.

  • Can Very Old Stretchmarks Be Removed?

It can be more challenging to remove very old stretch marks, as they tend to be more entrenched and may have lost some of their elasticity. However, that does not mean that it’s impossible. Treatments such as laser therapy, microneedling, and chemical peels can still be effective in improving the appearance of very old stretch marks.

Laser therapy can help to stimulate collagen production, improve the texture and tone of the skin, and reduce the coloration of the stretch marks. Microneedling can also be effective by creating small punctures in the skin to stimulate collagen production and improve the appearance of the stretch marks. Chemical peels can be used to remove the top layers of the skin, which can improve the texture and tone of the skin.

It is important to note that the results of treatment will depend on the individual case, their skin type, and the severity of the stretch marks.

Keep in mind that, even with the best treatments, it is unlikely to achieve perfect, invisible results on very old stretch marks, but a significant improvement can be achieved.

  • Can Stretch Marks Be Removed Permanently By Laser

Laser therapy can be effective in reducing the appearance of stretch marks and improving the texture and tone of the skin. However, it is unlikely to completely remove stretch marks permanently. Stretch marks are caused by tears in the dermis, the middle layer of the skin, and they can be difficult to fully eliminate.

Different types of laser can be used to treat stretch marks, such as fractional CO2 laser, Fractional Erbium laser, and Pulsed Dye laser. These lasers work by stimulating collagen production and remodeling the damaged tissue, which can help to reduce the visibility of the stretch marks.

In some cases, even with the best laser treatments, it may be difficult to achieve complete removal of stretch marks, but the treatments can help to significantly improve their appearance.

I go to Denver Laser Solutions for Botox and laser hair removal and all the girls are amazing. I usually see Mara, she is so thorough and welcoming and makes me feel so comfortable. The last time I went, she did my Botox and it’s literally the BEST job I’ve ever had. I’m very picky with my face, and this is the only place I trust for my injectables. I recommend to all my friends and family.
