Significantly Reduce Deep Lines and Scars with Only One Treatment

with CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 Resurfacing is the treatment of choice for deeper signs of aging on your face and neck. The benefits of this treatment include:

  • It only needs to be performed once to be highly effective (versus 3 to 6 times with other treatments)
  • It has significantly better results than all other line and wrinkle options
  • It is ultimately more cost-effective than almost all other age-reversing treatments

How Does CO2 Resurfacing Work?

CO2 Laser Resurfacing uses carbon dioxide laser technology. Electricity gets filtered through a CO2 gas filler tube to produce a tiny far infrared beam of light with a specific wavelength that targets water in the skin. The heat produced from the laser beam causes the water in your skin to boil and then evaporate. This process, ablation, creates tiny puncture holes in the skin in a grid-like pattern, leaving healthy skin surrounding each injury. Over the next 4 to 6 weeks the body’s natural healing process creates new collagen and elastin fibers that thicken and firm the skin forcing a reduction of acne scars and deep lines while simultaneously tightening lax skin. Refine your face and look naturally ageless.

Why Get CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

There are a number of wrinkle and line reduction treatments available to you, including Botox and Microneedling. However, CO2 Resurfacing is an aggressive treatment that produces results that are dramatically more effective with just one treatment adding significantly more value towards your self-care budget.

CO2 is also the most aggressive approach to severe acne scaring.  Treatment can be preformed on the full face or on select areas on concern.

Invest in boosting your confidence and feeling beautiful with this 100% organic treatment! CO2 Laser Resurfacing delivers better and quicker results than other treatments. In just one month. Get results that turn back the hands of time!

Who is Not a Good Candidate for CO2 Laser Resurfacing

CO2 Laser Resurfacing causes a significant injury to the skin. These injuries can take 10 to 14 days to fully heal. Most people prefer to stay primarily indoors and out of the public eye during this time. If your schedule would not permit this, let us recommend a treatment that would better fit your schedule. Additionally, this treatment can’t be performed on dark skin tones as it can cause permanent hyperpigmentation. This includes most Hispanic, Asian, and African American ethnicities. Lastly, pregnant and nursing women or taking blood-thinning medications, immunosuppressants, or antibiotics which can cause your skin to be more sensitive to the sun should not receive this treatment.

How many CO2 Laser Resurfacing Treatments will I need?

One CO2 treatment is sufficient to produce a noticeable change in the skin. Repeat treatments are not recommended for at least one-year post-treatment.  Subsequent a treatment may be desired approximately 3-5 years later with less aggressive skincare treatments like Photofacials and microdermabrasion in between.

Frequently Asked Questions for CO2 Skin Resurfacing

How long do CO2 results last?

Possible Side Effects of CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Potential side effects of CO2 Laser Resurfacing include:

  • Facial tanning, temporary or permanent hyper-pigmentation
  • Small, white pimple-like outbreak several days after treatment
  • Burns that could lead to scarring
  • Blisters that could lead to scarring
  • Infection

How to Prepare for Your CO2 Resurfacing Treatment

When you are planning for your CO2 Resurfacing treatment expect both physical and social downtime to allow the skin to heal and fully physically recover from the treatment. To get the best possible results and to heal the most effectively and efficiently:

  • Do not be in the sun for any period of time 3 days before treatment.
  • Plan to not leave your house for 3 days after the treatment.
  • Plan to leave your house only very rarely for days 4 – 14 after treatment.
  • Drink lots of water the day before and of treatment. As the laser is attracted to water, the more water you drink prior to the treatment, the more effective the treatment it will be.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol as they dehydrate the skin.
  • Prepare your skin by applying Retin-A and Hydroquinone creams every other night for 2 weeks prior. These products help prevent your face from tanning after the treatment.
  • Purchase distilled water, vinegar, and cotton gauze to apply to your face after treatment. (this is a natural disinfectant)
  • Purchase numbing cream and apply it 45 minutes before the treatment. This numbing cream is available from Denver Laser Solutions.
  • Take 400 – 800 mg of ibuprofen 45 minutes before treatment
  • Know that it will take 10 – 14 days to feel better and up to a full month for the entire healing to be complete.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

At the beginning of your CO2 Resurfacing treatment, we will remove the numbing cream you applied prior to arrival, clean your skin thoroughly and use a specially-designed vacuum to remove any dead skin cells. We will then place goggles on your eyes to protect them throughout the treatment and give you a wand to apply cool air to your skin throughout the process.

We will then place the laser around your face, eyebrows, mouth, and eyes (up to the bone above your eyelid). The laser will be moved around small areas of your face (about the size of your thumb) until your entire face is treated. The discomfort experienced during this is similar to what you feel while having your teeth cleaned.

What to Do and Expect After Your Treatment

The treatment will take approximately 30-40 minutes. Immediately when it is over, we apply ice packs to help reduce swelling and redness caused by the heat of the laser and the subsequent injuries to the skin. (Evidence of swelling and redness is a positive sign as this indicates an inflammatory response which will in turn produce collagen elastin.)

When you get home you will need to:

  • Apply Neosporin to help prevent infection
  • Apply ice to reduce swelling and redness
  • Apply the vinegar and distilled water soak with cotton gauze to prevent infection

Also, it is important to know:

  • Your skin will get worse on days 1, 2, and 3 after the treatment.
  • You will be sore and likely feel sick, have a headache, be queasy and/or uncomfortable for the first 3 days, but after day 3 you will feel much better.
  • It can take up to 1 week for your skin to scab and start to flake off. It is very important that you do not pick at your skin during this time.
  • Once the scabs come off, you might see hyperpigmentation.
  • When the scabs are gone, you can stop applying Neosporin and the distilled water/vinegar soak, and start your regular skincare routine. Do not use Retin-A at this time. You may use HQ at this time.
  • It can take 3 to 4 months for any hyperpigmentation to fade.
  • Make an appointment to come back to Denver Laser Solutions six weeks after your CO2 Resurfacing treatment. At this time, we will take your “after photos”, and you can receive approval to 100% resume your regular skincare regime.
  • Six weeks after treatment you can expect to see a dramatic improvement to your skin which will continue to improve for 6 months.
