IPL PHOTOREJUVENATION
Our Intense-Pulsed Light (IPL) Sun Spot Reduction treatment, or IPL Photorejuvenation, uses the same technology as Photofacial treatments for the face. When treating the face we use a handpiece that’s tip is smaller and also has wavelengths to target broken blood vessels at the same time. Handpieces for treating the body come with larger tips to speed up treatment time for larger areas.
All of our IPL handpieces are water cooled and come in direct contact with the skin during treatment to provide “ice pack” like protection on the skin while delivering heat into the unwanted pigment. The same reaction happens on the body as does on the face where the light is targeted at the pigment in sunspots, causing them to rise to the surface and flake away within four weeks. Sunspots will get lighter after every treatment, however, three to six treatments are needed to achieve skin that is even in tone, youthful and sunspot free.
VIRTUAL SKINCARE CONSULTATION
Your Free skincare consultation via Zoom, phone, or e-mail, with our estheticians will provide you with more than just a consultation, we’ll dive into a comprehensive skincare evaluation!
Does IPL Photorejuvenation Hurt?
Treatment is tolerable and is akin to the sensation of a warm rubber band snap. Our IPL machine is a water-cooled system, meaning that the handpiece itself acts like an ice pack and cools the skin before, during, and after each pulse, making the treatment quite comfortable.
How Long Does Laser Sunspot Reduction Last?
We can not cure sunspots, once they have formed their way into the skin their cell memory will last forever, we can only eliminate the sunspot from view. Therefore, sunscreen compliance is mandatory after treatment to prolong your investment and keep your skin looking youthful and even-toned. It is impossible to stay completely out of the sun so as time goes on the sunspots will reappear. Re-treatment is recommended once a year or every other year depending on your lifestyle and goals.
What Should I Expect After My IPL Photorejuvenation Treatment?
Immediately after treatment, your skin will feel warm and sensitive to the touch, almost akin to a sunburn. This sensation is temporary and usually calms down within a day or so, but the redness may linger for up to a week. As the pigmentation lifts to the surface, it will appear darker and darker until it forms a crust on the surface of the skin that almost looks like coffee grounds or black pepper. This flakes away shortly thereafter, leaving your skin looking more even-toned.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
We usually recommend a series of 3-6 treatments. Results are cumulative, meaning that the spots will improve and get lighter with each treatment. Remember: it has taken many years for the sunspots to accrue and it will most likely take multiple treatments to get the best results!
Are There Any Side Effects To IPL Photorejuvenation?
With darker skin tones if done incorrectly, treatment can cause hyper-pigmentation.
What Are The Benefits Of IPL Photorejuvenation?
It clears skin tone from unwanted sun spots and freckles on the body. As mentioned above when treating the face we can also help reduce redness from broken capillaries and rosacea.
What Is The Downtime After IPL Photorejuvenation?
Plan for social downtime. Meaning if you have a big event such as a high school reunion or preparing to look good in a summer dress, it is recommended you get this treatment three to four weeks ahead of time.
I go to Denver Laser Solutions for Botox and laser hair removal and all the girls are amazing. I usually see Mara, she is so thorough and welcoming and makes me feel so comfortable. The last time I went, she did my Botox and it’s literally the BEST job I’ve ever had. I’m very picky with my face, and this is the only place I trust for my injectables. I recommend to all my friends and family.
